What’s My Win Number
In any election year, over 380 offices in DC are open for candidates to run for and become elected representatives. These offices are as micro as a Single Member District Representative (ANC Commissioner) to as high as the top of the ticket as our Mayor or Delegate to the United States Representative.
A win number should be the lowest number of votes needed to win your race. There are many ways to calculate this number. The win number is simple to calculate for a race with two candidates.
Consider a few things when calculating your win number:
- The Actual Win Number from Previous Elections (Expect Ballots)
- Number of Registered Voters
- Number of Projected (Serious) Candidates
- A Comfortable Safety Margin (3%, the standard)
- Assumption on Increase or Decrease in Turnout
However, races have become highly competitive, with some having as many as ten or more eager candidates. These races require additional resources and data to create more reliable estimates. The calculator below only looks at previous voter data as of November 2023. If you are interested in a personalized assessment, book a consultation with the Principal, and we can discuss:
- Vote Goal
- Calculating Your Base
- Base Vote Percentage
- Calculating Your Vote Deficit
- Factoring in voter drop-off
